How encouraging it is that the world’s largest democracy, India will be completing 73 years of Independence in the next month. Pained to say that the government of the people by the people, for the people, has become a farce on our soil. The so called social servants have made the mockery of the system. The elected democrats have turned into autocrats. At present the Indian politics is at its lowest ebb in history. The political parties openly provide refuge to the anti-social elements who misuse their power to gain multipurpose benefits by fair or foul practices. Probably the thirst for power forces the makers of new India to unwillingly compromise with their virtual personality.

The country is suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic but the legislatures of Rajasthan are spending their days in the luxurious resorts in the state. At the same time the disloyalist of the ruling party have taken shelter in the BJP ruled neighbouring state. If this practice continues to grow in the Indian politics then the day is not far away when Sushasan, the Good governance will remain a dream for us.

Congress’s policy of appeasement has cultivated disappointment in the larger section of the Indian society. The BJP is harvesting this in the form of intolerance. People have started showing unconcern for the idea of secularism. At the same time the protesters are being treated as anti-socials.

India’s politics has come out of the parliament and functioning on Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp. India’s social media serves as a recycler of prejudice. At times it seems that there is no room for intellectuals on social media platforms. Disharmony may ruin the texture and the composition of the Indian culture.

COVID-19 pandemic has already stolen the luster of Indian economy. Large-scale youth unemployment and collapse of political rights may cause civic and moral decline in the country.
