PM Modi expresses condolences on passing away of Padma Kumariji
BIKANER: Maharani Padma Kumari of the erstwhile Bikaner state and the mother of MLA Siddhi Kumari is now no more. Maharani Padma Kumari, a princess from the royal family of Chamba (Himachal Pradesh), wife of Late Maharaja Narendra Singh, was undergoing treatment by the doctors of Haldiram Moolchand Heart Hospital for the last few days. She was taken to Haldiram Moolchand Heart Hospital, PBM, on June 8, for cardiac problem where she breathed her last having attained an age of 67 years. She is survived by her mother-in-law and two daughters Siddhi Kumari and Mahima Kumari.
She was cremated at the royal cremation ground at Devikund Sagar. Breaking all the old traditions of the royal family, her two daughters performed the funeral rituals. A large number of people were there to pay homage to the departed soul.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed condolences on the passing away of Padma Kumariji. In his condolence letter the PM said that the work done by Padma Kumariji with selfless service to the society will always be remembered. May God give peace to her soul and grant patience and strength to the bereaved family to bear sorrow in this difficult time. Several renowned people across the country and abroad have expressed grief over the death of Maharani Padma Kumari.
The flag of the erstwhile Bikaner state on Junagadh fort will remain tilted for 12 days, sources reported.
