Thakur Dalip Singh Khiwansar: The Perfect Portrayal of Dedication and Perseverance

ANUP PARIHAR

Thakur Dalip Singh Khiwansar is a well-known personality and iconic figure of the society. According to him, Kaam pyaara hai Chaam nahin. It is your work and what you do that will always be appreciated most and not your skin, not your looks or charm which will, with time, fade. Legacy is not just about what we accumulate in terms of material possessions or accomplishments, but it’s about the impact we leave behind and the values we instill in others.

Dalip Singh, born on 16 May 1939 to Thakur Shivlal Singh and Mrs. Anar Kanwar in Khiwansar village of Churu district of Rajasthan, forged a path to success in life with his hard work. Thakur Dalip Singh Khiwansar travelled a long way to become a well-known and respected figure closely associated to the erstwhile royal state of Bikaner

Dalip Singh gives all credit for his early education to his elder uncle, Th. Nand Singhji. He thankfully acknowledges the significant role of his grand-uncle Th. Hem Singhji and uncle Col. Rewant Singh in in helping to shape his persona. Education journey of Dalip Singh started at a single teacher temple school at Khiwansar until 4th Standard. He studied there from 4th to 8th standard at Seth Duggar Vidyalaya and the Government High School, Sardarshahar (Churu). He completed his High School (9th & 10th) from VR High School, Malsisar, (Jhunjhunu).

Singh obtained B. Com. Degree from Lohia College, (Churu) in 1961.  This period from 1957 to1961 is ofthen refered as the best time of life. These years spent at Lohia College recognised him as one of the most sincere and hardworking students.  He received appreciation for skills and requisite speed in steno-typing, a subject of choice. He was a regular member of college football team during this period.

He completed this most prominent chapter of his life at a high note, with the honour of representing Rajasthan as a NCC Sargent and partaking in the Republic Day Parade of 1961 at New Delhi.

The three years (1958-1961) spent in the NCC earned Dalip Singh a name for being the most obedient, and outstanding cadet.  The final year at college also saw a brief stint as a Stenographer to the Civil and Additional Sessions Judge, Churu, Rajasthan during 1960-61, that offered yet more assurance regarding the proficiency in writing.

A chance encounter, an unexpected conversation, the call of fortune, a curiosity and certain interest and the refusal to give up, all led to Dalip Singh’s appointment in October 1961 at the Private Secretary’s Office of Maharaja of Bikaner, where later he was promoted as Assistant Private Secretary to His Highness Maharaja Dr Karni Singhji (MP) of Bikaner. His inborn tendency to never saying no to new roles, responsibilities and experiences led to his rapid rise. Singh was soon promoted as personal and political secretary to Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji and traveled extensively with his master on political and personal assignments.

Th. Dalip Singh was assigned the role of General Manager of Hotel Lallgarh Palace for many years, later was made Coordinator & Asst. Secretary of Maharaja Ganga Singhji Trust, Secretary of Karni Singh Foundation Trust, Karni Charitable Trust and Trustee and Secretary of Rajyashree Kumari Religious and Charitable Trust and Anupama Kumari Public Charitable Trust.

Singh is known all over as one trusted most by his master, Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji and a close confidante of his daughter, Princess Rajyashree Kumari ji of Bikaner who took charge of affairs as Chairperson, Maharaja Ganga Singhji Trust and other Trusts after the demise of her father in 1988.

In the year 2019, after more than 56 years of working life with proven dedication, loyalty, perseverance and earning everyone’s appreciation, Singh decided to retire due to advancing age and health issues. Th. Dalip Singh is blessed with three sons and a daughter. Nowadays he is spending quality time with his friends and family, especially the grandchildren.

Wishing you a very very happy birthday Sir. May God bless you with good health and happiness in abundance. We@ SHADWAL, hope that you continue to change the lives of others with your positivity, affection and beautiful spirit.
